Handmade textile design and making, specialising in free motion embroidery, appliqué and miniature
textile animals. I create embroidered cushions, fabric pots, purses, bags and decorative homeware,
alongside a growing collection of miniature animals, each made by me and dressed in unique outfits.

My work combines free motion embroidery with raw-edge appliqué to build up layered, illustrative
compositions. I construct each motif, whether a surfer, a hare in flight or a barn owl, from carefully
selected fabric scraps: Liberty of London prints and vintage textiles inherited from my mother and
grandmother. The free motion technique lets me draw freely with the needle, creating texture, movement
and detail that gives each piece its own character. No two are alike.
My miniature animals are made using a combination of machine and hand sewing, with individually
embroidered faces and outfits cut from treasured fabric remnants. Each comes with a Liberty-fabric carry
cot, pillow and duvet.

Born and raised in Truro, I studied History at the University of Exeter before spending twenty years in
London in media planning and buying. In 2019 I returned to Cornwall with my young family. Sewing has
always been a part of our home. My mother and grandmother were both makers, and I grew up surrounded
by beautiful fabrics and their love of creating. When we bought a farmhouse that needed furnishing, I
taught myself to sew: first for the house, then for the glamping site we built on our land.
That practical beginning grew into something more personal. Inspired by the textile work of Poppy Treffry
and the free motion embroidery of Cornish artist Melody Ryder, I taught myself the technique through
many hours of practice. It is when I feel most creative, essentially doodling with the needle, working
intuitively in the moment. My inherited fabric scraps found their purpose in these pieces, saved from
landfill and given a second life.

I sell through my website, a small number of independent retailers, and at craft fairs in Cornwall. Recent
fairs have included the Eden Project Christmas Fair, Truro Cathedral Artisan Market, Hall for Cornwall
Christmas Fair and Truro School Artisan Craft Fayre.

I am continually developing my range and refining my technique, exploring new animal characters,
expanding my embroidered homeware, and challenging myself with larger, more ambitious pieces. Making
is a passion that sits alongside my freelance work, our family life and our home in Cornwall. It is
something I would love to do more of, and being part of the Cornwall Crafts Association and its
community of makers would mean a great deal to me
