Barnabas Taylor

Jewellery, Silversmithing

I am mostly self-taught on the jewellery and silversmithing front, so a formal CV doesn’t make a lot of sense as I have no relevant qualifications to boast of. Instead, I have given you a short list of my jewellery and silversmithing career to date.

  • I have been interested in metalwork from a young age. I started making jewellery in 2015, when it became a hobby while I was studying marine engineering.
  • 2017, I decided to start up my own jewellery business, having decided that life as a ship’s engineer was not for me.
  • 2019, to pursue an interest in silversmithing I decided to enroll on to an adult education evening class in silversmithing at the City of Truro college.
  • 2019- 2021, I completed a total of 90 hours tuition at the college.
  • 2021, I started teaching short courses in jewellery at Create.CIC in Camborne, Cornwall.
  • 2021, I won a bronze award for the finishing and polishing of one of my vessels in the Goldsmith’s Craft and Design Awards.
  • 2023, I won a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze award at the Goldsmith’s Craft and Design Competition
  • 2024, I won a scholarship with the South House Silver Trust, and went up to Sheffield to spend a month studying with Brett Payne.
  • I have been exhibiting at craft fairs in Cornwall since 2019. In 2023 I made the leap to the larger out of county fairs. Listed here:
