Charles Hall

Silversmithing

Form and function are key tenets within Charles Hall???s designs.

Whether working as a silversmith, goldsmith or jeweller each article he creates balances functional simplicity within aesthetic concern.???? In making unique hand crafted objects his challenge is to ensure that they perform their task with both precision and elegance investing each piece with an inherent confidence and poise.

Drawing inspiration from the West Cornwall landscape where he lives and works, as much as the narrative surrounding a commission, his design process is informed by truth to material and the sense that anything is possible.?? Finished pieces are at once contemporary and classic giving them a sense of timelessness within the rich chronicle of the craft of gold and silver smithing.?? Employing traditional techniques of hand raising and hot forging silver and ??working in pure gold every piece is unique, fabricated and hand finished by Charles.

Charles trained at the Royal College of Art and has been practising in Cornwall since 1972. He was the founding member of CCA in 1973, and the founding member of the Association of Designer Silversmiths in 1996.

Recent commissions include work for Winchester Cathedral, ??Plymouth University and St Lawrence Chobam as well as?? some exciting jewellery
