Jaz Odell

Sculpture, Wood

Hi, I’m Jaz and I’m a Cornish green wood carver. I like to make spoons, bowls, scoops and stools from local, sustainably sourced wood. My work as a National Trust ranger means I have access to lots of different tree species from across the county, and all the wood I get has come from storm damage, habitat management or trees that need to be felled due to safety reasons.
I love working with different tree species as all the wood carves in a different way. The colours, patterns and textures of the wood and grain are all unique and beautiful. I really enjoy the process of the first cut in to the wood and seeing what’s inside and making the most of any interesting features in the wood.
All my pieces are unique, even similar designs will have different qualities about them. And as well as being functional objects some of my work I make with no function in mind, but just to be looked at and enjoyed as a beautiful, natural material.

Find me on instagram – the Cornish carver, and send me a message on there or via email if you are interested in any of my works on there.
